When dealing with K9 aggression remember others responses to your dog’s aggression can be reinforcing to the dog and cause the behavior to repeat and increase in strength. Do not attempt to address this problem alone. Seek advice from a professional experienced in dealing with aggressive behavior. The first rule is safety.

I was on the verge of having to look for a new home for our 5-year-old golden retriever, Comet.  She was in constant need of attention, and being a single mom, I did not have enough time or energy to give her the attention she needed.  She would dart out the door and run into traffic.  When she was on a leash, she would pull so hard she’d almost knock you down.  When anyone came to the door, she would jump all over them.  The worst thing was how she would absolutely not leave you alone when you were in the house.  She would constantly try to get in your lap and try to get you to pet her. 

That all changed when Steve started working with us.  Through the use of positive reinforcement and a process of showing her exactly how we wanted her to behave, Comet has turned into a very happy, much calmer dog.  She sits happily by herself in the house.  She walks calmly on a leash.  She no longer jumps on people that come over.  She no longer darts out the door.  She’s still learning, of course, but aren’t we all??  J

This collar was designed to be worn high on the dog’s neck. The snap should be directly behind and between the dog’s ears, its chin at the top of the throat. You should be able to place two fingers under the chain at the top. Any more and it is too loose, and less it is too tight.

The purpose is to deliver a pinch with little movement by the trainer. It is sort of like rack and pinion power steering.  This piece of equipment can be very effective when used correctly and on the right dog. I do not suggest its use unless you have had instructions from a professional who is familiar with it and its correct use.

I have been to the Netherlands many times to buy police dog prospects and of the thousands of dogs I have evaluated I have never seen anything on them but a leather collar. Interesting in the different approaches.
